- In 2014, she enrolled for a two-year course at Birkbeck University, London. Her subject was Human Rights.

- Laura used to work for the National Commission for Human Rights. She was their administrator until 2011.
- She was also a practising Human Rights lawyer for some time.
- Then, she took up employment at a bank in New Mexico.
- However, soon after she became Jeremy’s wife & quit her association with the finance industry.
- Instead, she took charge of Cafe Mam, a company importing coffee beans from Mexico.
- In 2015, the Cafe came under public scrutiny, thanks to the media claiming that she was treating her employees and their families poorly.

- Laura offers all her strength and support to her husband, who is an MP for the Labour Party.
- She agrees that her husband is a good politician, but very poor at housework!
- She is keen to improve her husband’s dressing sense, especially when he appears on television.

- Committed to social justice and human rights, Laura has participated in debates on human rights in Mexico, attended the Human Rights Convention in Geneva and expressed her views in the Houses of Parliament.
- Whenever they get the chance, Laura and her husband watch the popular soap operaEastenders, preferring to relax at home.
- They also prefer to gorge on food grown on Jeremy’s allotment, as well as sip the odd glass of wine.
- Despite all attempts to avoid the limelight, Laura received an invitation from none other than the Queen of England in 2015, to attend a state banquet! It was to honour Xi Jinping, the President of China, but Laura did not attend!
